Ballykissangel actor Niall Tóibín has passed away aged 89 after a ‘long illness’
Ballykissangel actor Niall Tóibínk, who was famous for playing Father MacAnally in the BBC show, has died aged 89.
RTE News reported that the Irish actor and comedian passed away in Dublin on Wednesday following a ‘long illness’.
He is survived by his children Sean, Muireann, Aisling, Sighle and Fiana and his wife Judy sadly passed away back in 2002.
Ballykissangel ran on the BBC from 1996 until 2001, and Niall starred alongside Stephen Tompkinson and Dervla Kirwan in the hit show.
Niall also played Tom Cruise’s father in 1992 movie, Far & Away alongside Nicole Kidman and an islander called Seán alongside Pierce Brosnan in The Nephew.
Niall famously appeared on The Late Late Show in the 90’s with Gay Byrne, where he would make everyone laugh with his impressions.
Irish broadcasting legend Byrne was laid to rest by a congregation of celebrity mourners on Friday, including singer Andrea Corr and Irish politicians/
Byrne, who presented RTE’s flagship programme The Late Late Show for 37 years, died at the age of 85 on the Monday after a long illness.
