What did this “Kamaru” guy do that has never been done?
Nigeria’s Kamaru Usman has broken record by being the first African-born fighter to win a UFC title. He achieved this feat after smacking Tyron Woodley in a one-sided bout. The fight was held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
How did he start?
The thirty-one year-old Usman, a Nigerian-born Mixed Martial artist initially featured in the UFC four years ago during its reality show styled competition.
Usman, has always had a very promising career right from the start. This guy won his first eight UFC bouts.
Moreover, like that wasn’t enough Usman dethroned UFC’s ex-champ Rafael Dos Anjos last November. Almost immediately, he secured his chance at Tyron’s belt.
What was his comment after the fight
Can’t nobody handle me,” Usman said.
“I’ve been wanting this fight, and I’ll be honest, I might not be the best striker in the world. I might not be the best wrestler in the world. But when it comes to mixing this (stuff) up, I’m the best in the world right now, bragged Usman.
Woodley (a.k.a The Chosen One) boasts of a record of 19 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. He therefore, has been a professional martial artist since 2009.
Secondly, he had been the UFC’s 170-pound defeater since July 2016. For example, he managed to retain the belt four times. Yet, his Texas based Nigerian (15-1) opponent had an abrupt start and didn’t take any chance as he made first big win .
Usman and his daughter were already in a joyous mood just moments before his hand was raised in triumph. This was a very lovely display by the pair.
Usman emerged a victor with an harmonious decision, leading 50-44 on two cards and 50-45 on the third.
